Pronoun Definition and Kind of Pronoun

Pronoun is a word that take place of noun, it makes the sentence easier or less repetitive, by the using noun again n again in the sentence, makes the sentence longer and repetitive,so pronoun is used in the place of noun .
these are  (I,you, he, she, they etc.)

For example if you say john is my friend, John is coming today, with the use of pronoun u can make your sentence shorter like, John is my friend and he is coming today. Hear the use of “he” is called Pronoun.

Type of Pronoun
Pronouns are classified in to several types like

Personal Pronouns – it  refers to a specific person or thing, it’s forms  are changeable according to Person,thing.number,gender and case.
Personal pronouns to refer 
  • first person in different case (Nominative, Objective, possessive) I, me ,mine we, us, our ,
  • Second person-You, your, yours, they
  • Third person- He, she, his, her
  • Neuter- it, its
  • All gender-they, them, their, theirs
  • Nominative forms- I, we you, they, he, she, it,
  • Objective forms-me, us, you, him, her, it, them
  • Possessive forms-me, mine our, your, his, her, their.
Demonstrative Pronouns-  It identifies the noun, things or person that are nearby to us or in the time. singular forms Demonstrative Pronouns are (this, that) and plural forms are (these, those)
Demonstrative pronoun example –

  • This is pen.
  • That is the pen I want (here the "that" is something farther to speaker)
  • These are my friends.
  • Those are my father’s friends, (here the "these" is something farther to speaker)
Interrogative Pronoun-  we use interrogative pronoun,For asking the question.  Interrogative  pronoun are “who” “what”  “whom” “which”
Highlighted words are integrative Pronoun in following sentence-
  • Who is the chief guest today’s program?
  • What is your father?
  • Whom are you talking about?
  • Which dress do you like most?
Relative pronoun - Relative pronoun is related to the phrase or cause.
 
like- the boy  whom I met last night is my favourite TV star.
“Who”, “whom” “which’ “that’ and compounds pronoun
 “whomever”
 “whoever” “whichever”  are also called relative pronoun.
Highlighted words are relative Pronoun in following sentence-

  • Students whose parents are poor can pay less.
  • My mother is looking for the science teacher whose classes are running to our nearby area.
  • The Car which was taxi has gone.
  • Whoever throne this stone to me will have to pay for this.
  • You can dance with whomever you want.
  • I will read whichever book you suggest.
Indefinite Pronoun –Indefinite pronoun refers to person but not to specified person or thing.
indefinite pronoun are – “any” , “anybody”, “anyone”, “anything”, “one”, “none”, “nobody”, “few”, “many”, “several”,
Example for definite pronoun

  • I like everything you do for me.
  • Many were reached there without invitation.
  • I have searched everywhere for your books.
  • Distribute the temp lets to everyone.
  • Nobody should use these abusive words.
  • Few of my friends are going to join my group.
Reflexive pronoun- Reflexive Pronoun is used as refer back to the subject of sentence.
Reflexive pronoun are – ‘ourselves’, “yourselves”, “myself”, “itself”, “yourself”, “herself”, “himself”

Following highlighted words are reflexive pronoun

  • I can do my work myself.
  • After  sign the papers he asked himself why I told everyone about this project because no one can understand it better then my sister who herself is dreaming about this project .
  • I shared it to many, but few of them were not agree with this.
Intensive Pronoun  - intensive pronoun is used  to emphasize  the antecedent  of our sentence.           
Example for intensive pronoun –

  • I myself believe that my father can see me from heaven .
  • The teacher herself said that this guy will go so long.
  • They themselves promised me for come to the party.
